Why work with travwala LLC? Why not do it myself?

  • First, going it alone can be a very daunting process. Where do you start and what do you need in order to become a travel agent are just some of the questions that we're able to help you with. In addition, the start-up fees, forms, licensing, and other costs could run you thousands of dollars. Several states require you to obtain a Seller of Travel Registration to sell travel, even if you aren't a resident of that state. The time to learn and develop the contacts and relationships would take you many months. Because of the size of our agency and our sales volume, you're able to earn greater commissions with our travel suppliers than you would on your own.

Who can apply?

  • This opportunity is available for any US Citizen who is interested. If you are new to the industry, our New Agent Program will provide you with the necessary training, support and tools to allow you to book travel and earn commissions from day one. This is perfect for stay-at-home parents, retirees, someone looking for extra income or a career change, and those who have always wanted to become a travel agent.

How do I get more info or apply?

  • Email us at contact@travwala.com or give us a call at (571)318-9252 to express your interest and/or to inquire for more information. We will be happy to answer any questions that you might have as well as go over the entire program in full.

Why do you charge a fee?

  • It costs us money to bring on an agent. From the initial phone call to setting you up with multiple suppliers to the one-on-one phone calls and emails, we invest our time in you and ensure you get off to a great start. By charging a small fee, we ensure that we only get people who are truly interested in becoming a travel agent. We allow you to earn the fee back once you complete our New Agent Program so in the end it costs you nothing if you are serious.

How do I get clients?

  • Start with the people you know that travel. Look at the networks and groups that you currently belong to. Relatives, friends, associates, and social or church groups could be an excellent way to start your travel business. Use Social Networkings sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Twitter to spread the word and grow your business. When you join, we can also provide you with many other ideas. Let everyone you know that you are getting into the travel business.

Do you provide client leads?

  • We do not currently provide leads. There are companies out there that do provide this service; however, in our experience, the best leads come from working with those people that you already know as well as getting referrals from those people. A strong network will be your best opportunity to create your leads.

Where do I work?

  • Anywhere that you want! As long as you have access to a computer and phone service, you are able to work from any location. We do suggest a quiet, comfortable workspace free from distractions so that you can concentrate on providing the best possible service to your clients.

How much time do I need to put into this?

  • You can put as little time or as much time into this as you would like. Whether you want to work part-time or full-time, the choice is entirely up to you. Since it is commission-based, it makes a perfect part-time job as you build up your client base and allows you to work around a current job.

How much can I earn?

  • This is entirely up to you. Commissions can range from a couple of dollars for a car rental or hotel booking up to several thousand dollars for cruises, resort packages, and escorted land tours. Putting together groups is an excellent way to multiply the amount of commissions. The more clients you book on vacations, the more you will earn. Some travel agents actually earn a six-figure income!

How can I compete against the online web sites?

  • Believe it or not, the big online web sites have actually been losing business to traditional travel agents in the past several years. People want to know who they are speaking to and they want to know that the person has additional knowledge and experience with the supplier they are buying and the destination(s) they are traveling to. Through our travel partners and relationships with suppliers like Vacation.com, we are able to offer exclusive packages and deals that aren't offered anywhere else!

What about all those free trips and other discounts travel agents get?

  • While it is true that there is still free and discounted travel available for travel agents, many of the perks now go to those that produce sales for the suppliers. As you gain more sales, you will be afforded more opportunities to partake in trips and FAMs, some of which may even be free!

  • When you are qualified as a producing agent, you will be eligible for your IATAN ID Card or CLIA ID Card. With either of these globally recognized Travel Agent IDs, many suppliers will offer you exclusive travel agent discounts, some of which can represent as much as a 75% discount off the price they charge the public!
